Was Your Ancestor a British Home Child? - Uncovering Hidden Family Stories

It is estimated that one in ten Canadians is descended from a British Home Child, yet many families remain unaware of this important part of their heritage. Between 1869 and 1939, more than 100,000 children from England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales were sent to Canada as part of a child migration program that profoundly shaped Canadian history. Join us for an engaging workshop exploring the history of the British Home Child movement, the experiences of the children who came to Canada, and the organizations that managed the program. You will also learn how to identify and research British Home Child ancestors using historical records and specialized resources. Whether you are just beginning your family history journey or have recently discovered a British Home Child connection, this workshop will provide valuable insights and practical research strategies.
